New iPhone 16

Introduced in September 2024, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are Apple's current flagship phones, sold alongside the higher-end iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

For years now, the best iPhones have featured a $200 spread between the standard and Pro models, so I’m always faced with trying to make an argument to go with the less expensive model. That’s why I’m hyper-focused on inspecting every little detail with my iPhone 16 review, mainly because I want you to know what exactly you’re getting (or compromising) by choosing this less expensive handset over the iPhone 16 Pro.

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are the right iPhones for most people, and now is a good time to buy. There's an upgraded A18 chip that supports Apple Intelligence, a dual-lens camera system that takes great photos, a Camera Control button for quick camera access, and a customizable Action button.

Pricing starts at $799, and the iPhone 16 offers a good balance between functionality and price. If you're looking for a step up, Apple has the iPhone 16 Pro models with upgraded A18 Pro chip, biggerdisplays, ProMotion display technology, and triple-lens camera system.

If you're coming from an iPhone 13 or earlier, the iPhone 16 is an excellent upgrade because you get the new super fast chip and Apple Intelligence support, but you also get prior model features like Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite

Is the iPhone 16 worth buying?

Yes, if you are using an older iPhone model (iPhone 12 or earlier), the iPhone 16 offers a huge leap in camera quality, processing speed, display technology, and battery life. The inclusion of features like Apple Intelligence and Camera Control also makes it a future-ready choice.

Is it better to get an iPhone 15 or 16?
Starting at $799, the iPhone 16 represents the biggest upgrade Apple's baseline phone has received in years. It has a larger battery, a new ultrawide camera, two new hardware buttons for shortcuts (the Action button and Camera Control button) and will eventually receive Apple Intelligence.
Is the iPhone 16 waterproof?
The iPhone 16 boasts an IP68 rating, allowing it to withstand submersion for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 6 meters. However, its water and dust resistance can be compromised by cracks or scratches. While not completely waterproof, the iPhone 16 is water-resistant and capable of handling minor water exposure.
Does the iPhone 16 have fingerprint?
iPhone 16 has so many buttons now but still no Touch ID - this is how close we were to getting it back. The Camera Control key on iPhone 16 is almost Touch ID. Yes, that's 100% right - the Camera Control button on iPhone 16 is basically 90% Touch ID.
Should you upgrade from 15 to 16?
Users of any iPhone 16 model will also enjoy stronger display glass, bigger batteries, and faster MagSafe charging. For the base iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, the biggest upgrades include: The Action button carried over from the iPhone 15 Pro models. Improved focus and photo quality on the 12MP ultrawide camera.
