If you frequent on the internet, on sites such as youtube, or even TikTok, you may have noticed the topic of artificial intelligence, or "AI", being brought up more and more often, as it stretches from simple text generation to images, stories, essays, code, even being able to correct its mistakes after they've been pointed out. Among the most famous AI are: "Dall-E mini, Dall-E 2, Novel AI, LaMDA, NovelAI and ChatGPT", the most accesible of which are Dall-e mini, Novel AI and ChatGPT3. 

The history of AI
AI allegedly begun in the 1950s with the infamous "Turing test", created by Alan Turing in order to determine whether a machine had achieved behaviour intelligent enough to be considered "sentient". Since then, AI has only advanced further, further than anybody could resonably expect. It has evolved so far, that it is, in fact, debatable whether or not it has passed the turing test, although due to inconsistencies in results, it is unclear.

What is AI?

AI, in it's simplest form is an algorithm, a series of commands that a machine follows in order to cause an intended result. The manner in which some AI work can't trully be explained even by the programmers who created them. That would be "Self learning AI". Self learning AI are characterized by their ability to go from knowing absolutely nothing, to being able to comprehend and handle complex tasks by taking in millions of inputs. Self learning AI systems work by using a creator, which makes a bunch of randomized AI and asks them to complete a task. Once they all attempt to do it, the AI that is closer by the end is kept, and a bunch of its children, which have slight mutations, along with it, compete again. This process is repeated until an AI which is nearly perfect at this certain task is created. Tat is how self learning AI are trained.


Applications of AI

AI can be used in many ways, in fields such as entertainment, programming, science, language learning and many more. Some examples created by non-other than me using chatGPT follow. AI are each trained in order to perform a specific task, whether that is text, image, music or any other type of generation. Elon Musk for example however, believes in the creation of a "Real life AI" which would be an artificial intelligence trained to complete tasks as a human would, in which case, AI could truly surpass us.
