Smoking addiction

One of the thorny issues of our era is smoking addiction and the adverse effects it poses since a multitude of people nowadays consume excessive amounts of nicotine actively or passively.

Is it a serendipity that everywhere you see downcasted minors vaping, whereas the potential damage this perilous habit exerts? You discern their need to stop but they cannot, that is to say, an unhealthy habit has become an addiction which now plays a detrimental role to the sanity of the individual.  In the most egregious of situations, smoking can cause bronchitis and cancer-related diseases, psychological disorders and even at the onset of the journey asthma attacks and reduced blood pressure can occur. An indispensable aspect of smoking that should be taken into account is that nicotine takes the helm of one’s life in a virulent way which can only be described as mood vicissitudes and a ceaseless vexation over their body and themselves.

Yet, smoking oppresses and confines the pulmonary capacity and, due to the plethora of diseases it causes, it's definitely a burden for the health system. They also put a strain on children’s development, especially on juveniles and infants. And when someone is addicted, simply acknowledging the fact and  its drawbacks will not help. Therefore, medical help is required.

My opinion

Admittedly I consider that it is not feasible to ban smoking either by sensitizing people to the perilous effects tobacco poses or by enacting new laws that will constrain it up to a point. Another point to consider is that precedent attempts in the USA to prohibit addictive substances like alcohol or drugs on a worldwide scale  have ended up working counterproductively for the whole society since they were still consumed illegally.

Smoking does not constitute an exception, hence  it may never be eradicated. To strengthen the aforementioned argument, during the years there are numerous measures that states have taken to tackle smoking and which never succeeded, since people will always opt for inner happiness regardless of the negative repercussions of this choice.
