Traditional food in United Kingdom

In United Kingdom there is a variety of traditional food. There is no doubt that every visitor of the United Kingdom has to eat a traditional dish.

Here, Andrew and Jim are going to present you some of the dishes!

Fish and chips

Classic fish and chips are a British institution and national dish that everyone love. This is a dish you should try if you are in the UK.  You’ll also be able to find a delicious plate of fish and chips.

Recipe: Use a white fish for this recipe; sustainable cod or haddock are preferable.

The fillets are dipped in a flour batter that includes both dark beer and sparkling

water. The chips are simply fresh. To begin with, use one pot to fry them and, in the end, ensure

that both fish and chips are ready. Serve them with a pint and bring the pub home.

Full English Breakfast

The traditional breakfast in Britain is called "the full English breakfast". It is a big, cooked meal,

made up with several different parts and because lots of these parts are fried, it's also called a fry-up.

A traditional fry-up will contain some of these ingredients like sausages, bacon, eggs

(fried or scrambled), fried tomatoes, mushrooms, toast or bread, baked beans.

Shepherd’s Pie/Cottage Pie

These are two dishes that are very similar; the only difference is the choice of meat that is used in the

dish. In the shepherd’s pie, you use lamb while, in the cottage pie, you use beef. And to confuse you

even more, neither of these dishes are pies in the usual sense with pastry.

Shepherd’s pie and cottage pie have ingredients such as: mince (lamb or beef), vegetables (such as; carrots, tomatoes, and onions), and potatoes which are on top of the meaty pie like filling.

Follow this simple recipe...

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  •  1 onion diced, 3 carrots diced,
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour,
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning,
  •  ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon,
  • 2 tablespoonschopped fresh parsley,
  • 1 ½ cups beef broth,
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • salt and pepper for the taste
  • 4 potatoes peeled and diced
  • 1 cup milk,
  •  ¼ cup butter softened
