Practically we are talking about a total renewal and not a new generation, however the changes in appearance and equipment are more than noticeable!
The Nissan Qashqai needs no special recommendations. The model that is one of the founding members of the crossover category is going through a highly successful course. In around three years since its launch, the third-generation Qashqai has sold more than 350,000 units in Europe and continues to set the standard for the crossover segment. Aiming to maintain its position as the reference point in the category, it is repositioned on the market with a comprehensive aesthetic and technological renewal.
The renewed model is distinguished by a completely new design, especially in the front part. The front grille has been completely redesigned and takes inspiration from the designs of ancient Japanese armor. It consists of dozens of glossy, three-dimensional elements in black that appear to float in the space between the hood lip and the lower frame. The sides of the bumper are body-colored and a black stripe in a high-gloss finish runs under the number plate frame at the lower corners of the bumper.
The new headlights make their presencefelt, consisting of an adaptive high-beam unit and a smaller unit for wider light distribution. Below the main body, the daytime running lights are made up of five small elements that are the same shape as the 'pieces' of the main front grille.
At the back, the general image and the shape of the light fixtures remain unchanged. However, the composition of the lights under their cover has been redesigned, with four individual elements that follow the shape of the front grille. Small interventions have been made to the rear bumper, mainly in terms of the addition of gloss black on the higher versions or in color on the new N-Design version. A similarly high-gloss black finish is present on the side on the higher versions of the Qashqai, while the 18” alloy wheels (now standard on the mid-level trim) are also new.
The body color palette includes three new colors: Pearl White, Pearl Black and Deep Ocean. There are also five two-tone options with a black roof, in Pearl White, Deep Ocean, Fuji Red, Magnetic Blue and Ceramic Grey.
A new addition to the Qashqai range is the N-Design version, which stands out on the lower body under the doors and wheel arches, with body-coloured trim. The N-Design version is equipped with newly designed 20” aluminum wheels.
Upgraded interior
Less important are the changes in the interior, mainly with the addition of new materials and linings. Alcantara trim has been added to the rich versions, while upgraded seat covers are now available for the three highest Qashqai trims. Most notable is the black partially quilted premium leather on the top version of the model. Also new is the addition of ambient lighting (Secret Lighting)in the N-Connecta, N-Design and above versions, with the ability to adjust the lighting via the central infotainment screen.
In terms of design, there are no changes, but there are also upgrades in the equipment. One of the Qashqai's most frequently used pieces of technology, the Around View Monitor, includes upgraded exterior cameras to give a panoramic view of the vehicle in top view, which helps during parking manoeuvres. In fact, the upgraded system also has a 3D function that allows the driver to see the car from eight viewing points. At the same time a feature known as "invisible hood view" allows the driver to see the position of the front wheels as if looking at them from behind, which allows him to maneuver precisely in tight spots such as tight parking lots.
Upgraded driver assistance systems
The suite of driver assistance systems has also been upgraded. Autonomous Emergency Braking functions have been recalibrated to improve hazard detection and react more quickly in the event of a potential collision. This concerns the Front Emergency Brake, Pedestrian Front Emergency Brake, Front Emergency Brake Cyclist, and Intelligent Emergency Brake functions.
In case of emergency braking, the corresponding signal will be activated. This causes the rear brake lights to flash to attract the attention of vehicles behind. The Emergency Stop Signal is activated when sudden braking pressure is applied at speeds above 60 km/h.
The Emergency Lane Keep System is now automatically activated when the Qashqai is started, along with the operation of the Lane Departure Warning systems. The Intelligent Speed Assistance system helps the driver adjust the vehicle speed to the applicable limit using both the speed limit road sign reading camera and GPS data.
Furthermore, the new Qashqai is the first vehicle in Nissan's European range to integrate the Google suite as part of the Nissan Connect infotainment system. So available as standard are Google Maps, Google Assistant and Google Play.
Engines
Finally, the model's powertrains remain unchanged, which will be available both with the Mild Hybrid option and the 1.3-liter engine in versions of 140 or 158 hp, as well as the self-charging hybrid e-Power option with a combined power of 190 hp.
The prices
In relation to the outgoing model and corresponding equipment levels, the prices of the new Qashqai are kept at particularly competitive levels. More specifically, the prices per drive system configuration start from:
- Mild Hybrid 1.3 140PS M/T Petrol: €29,990
- Mild Hybrid 1.3 158PS X-Tronic Petrol: €32,990
- Mild Hybrid 1.3 158PS X-Tronic 4WD Petrol: €36,990
- e-Power 190PS: €39,990
The new Nissan Qashqai received the top 5-star rating from Euro NCAP. A particularly remarkable achievement given that the vehicle was assessed under the new, more stringent 2020-2022 protocol.
Euro NCAP rated the new Qashqai 91% for adult and child protection, ranking it among the best in its competitor group. This outstanding performance reflects the advanced, reinforced structure of the new Qashqai's CMF-C platform. This is constructed with ultra-high strength steel at key points to improve rigidity, while allowing impact force to be absorbed and reduced before it reaches the occupant safety cell. The addition of a central airbag to prevent a head-on collision between the driver and front passenger in the event of a side impact helped the Qashqai score up to 16 points in the side impact test.
An almost maximum score (23.8 out of 24) was achieved for child protection, as a maximum score (12 points) was also obtained for the child seat installation check. The model achieved a score of 70% in cyclist and pedestrian protection tests, while it reached 95% in the safety systems score. After all, Euro NCAP recognizes that it is always better to prevent accidents and gives points to technology that helps drivers avoid collisions.
The Hellenic Police trusts the best-selling crossover, significantly strengthening its vehicle fleet.
The Ministry of Citizen Protection proceeded with the immediate reinforcement of the Hellenic Police with 278 Nissan Qashqai patrol vehicles, signing a relevant contract months ago with the contractor company, Nissan-Nik. I. Theocharakis SA The supply was obtained after a public tender with an open process and international participation. The specific purchase of Qashqai patrol cars was co-financed by the European Union, as well as by National Resources.
The specific vehicles are 4x4 and equipped with the 1.7 diesel engine, with a power of 150 hp. In addition, they have been properly configured by Nissan – Nick. I. Theocharakis SA, in order to serve the difficult and demanding operational work of the Hellenic Police.
